LAUREN EMMA

Lauren Emma is a graduate of BA(Hons) Painting and Printmaking at The Glasgow School of Art. She is a multimedia artist, concerned with displaying the anguish and troubles faced during girlhood in the digital age.

Statement from the artist:
"I am a young artist based in Paisley, Scotland. My work explores femininity, the body, and girlhood in the age of social media. Placing myself in my work brings about a relatable and familiar experience, allowing me to explore my own frustrations surrounding body image, gender roles, perfection, narcissism and obsession.

I work mainly with collecting, collage and documentation, generating complicated compositions with overlapping layers, echoing the anguish, confusion and excessive nature of teenage hood and growing up. I also tend to incorporate installation, painting and sculptural pieces in my work to create an immersive experience for the viewer, allowing them to relate to the work."
